EGG (A) - The egg is brownish in colour and laid singly on the upper side of leaves of its host plant and covered with abdominal hairs. It measures about 0.9 mm in diameter. The larva will emerge in about 3 days.

CATERPILLAR/ALRVA (C) - The larva will hide itself in leaf shelter made by first cutting a circular piece of leaf segment, then flips it over and ties with silk to the main leaf (B1). The larva is solitary and will stay within the leaf shelter during the day. It will only wander off to feed at night. When it grows older, it will make itself a larger shelter and discard the old one (B2).

CHRYSALIS/PUPA (D) - The larva will pupate inside the leaf shelter and the adult butterfly will emerge in about 10 days. It measures about 1.6cm.

ADULT (E) - It is medium in size with wings span measuring about 3.5 to 4.0 cm. It flies during the day and prefers to settle on top of leaves with its wings opened wide. It feeds readily on flowers. Male and female are alike.
