New species to Hong Kong (1998)
Five butterfly species were added to the Hong Kong list in 1998. Details are as follows:-
Papilio dialis Leech, 1893 [Papilionidae: Papilioninae], no known common name; Mike Bascombe proposes the vernacular to be "Southern Chinese Peacock" - any objections? (e-mail HKLS!) taken by S.Murakami on 16 May 1998 at Fung Yuen, Tai Po, Hong Kong
Tagiades menaka (Moore, 1866) [Hesperiidae: Pyrginae] - Spotted Snow Flat (now Dark Edged Snow Flat 2002) - taken by S.Murakami on 2 May 1998 at Fung Yuen, Tai Po, Hong Kong
Ampittia virgata (Leech, 1890) [Hesperiidae: Hesperiinae], collected as larvae by J.J.Young around Po Lin Temple, Lantau Island, Hong Kong.
Zographetus satwa (de Nicéville, 1884) [Hesperiidae: Hesperiinae], leg. R.C.Kendrick, det. J.J.Young; taken on 28 October 1998 at Yung Shue O, Sai Kung, Hong Kong
Leptotes plinius [Lycaenidae: Polyommatinae], leg. Addi TSE, det. J.J.Young; taken on 20 December 1998 at Lai Chi Wo, north-east New Territories, Hong Kong
